Weird

The trip to Poland was smooth – long, yes – but everything went as planned. So now I am here, in the place I once called home, where I once tried to settle. It is a strange feeling.

Rabka-Zdroj - Familiar and Foreign

On the one hand, it feels like coming home: I know the streets, I know the shops, I know some people. My hosts are super nice, as they have always been. They help where they can. And the new accommodation, which they built in the 3 years since I moved on, is amazing. Of course, with everything being new, it feels very clean and comfortable. They have also done an amazing job choosing the features and designing the place.

Then on the other hand, it is not home. Maybe it never really was. But now it is very obvious: the town does not feel like home anymore. Poland does not feel like home anymore. I have outlived it, and coming back is lovely – but also weird.

I will try to enjoy my time here: spending time with friends, checking off some things on my to-do list, and saving some money in comparison to Germany. But now, it is an “in-between” place … and, to be honest, I am already looking forward to leaving and returning to Russia.

Does that make sense?
