Today, it happened – for the first time, actually – I got asked for advice on how to start living as a digital nomad. But I don’t feel like telling others how they should do it… Nevertheless, I got asked, and here is how I did it and how I would do it again.
Starting over in a new unfamiliar country is a challenge. I love challenges, and usually, I do pretty well. However, I never realized how much I was at an advantage due to being an EU citizen living in another EU-country. Now, I am in Russia – and gone are all those advantages.
Lately I realized that not being able to make decisions myself, not being in control myself, is a pain.
Planning is a glorious stage; starting is exciting … I had a great time. So, what happened?
It was always easy to restart, to find out if I could do better, to chase my dreams, and I always wondered why it was hard for others to make these kind of decisions and why they got stuck in a life they did not enjoy.
Travelling is exhausting. I am not sure that humans are made for being ripped out of one setting and being thrown into another. I am tired.
